Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is a landlocked country in Asia. Afghanistan is bordered by Pakistan to the east and south; Iran to the west .It is a large and mountainous, although mainly rural, country. This means that there are only few major cities in the country, and these are widely spaced apart.
Kabul is the capital and largest and best city in Afghanistan, and is located along the Kabul River south of the Hindu Kush mountain range. Kabul is the only city in Afghanistan with a population in excess of a million, and it is now one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. It is a historically blended country, at the crossroads of multiple peoples and cultures, from the Silk Road to the Soviet invasion.

Kandahar or Qandahar is a city located in Afghanistan, with a population of about 557,118.Kandahar is located in the south of the country on the Arghandab River, at an elevation of 1,010 m. One of the most interesting places to see in Kandahar is the Friday Mosque of Kandahar, a holy Islamic place of worship considered of utmost importance in the country.
4. Faizabad
Located on the northeast part of Afghanistan, Faizabad was historically remote due to bad road connections, which has helped to its local culture intact. It serves as the provincial capital and largest city of Badakhshan Province. Fayzabad is the main commercial and administrative center of the Pamir region.
